Expert says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s plans could be ‘bridge burners’
Royal commentator Nile Gardiner discussed the Sussexes’ upcoming Netflix docuseries and Prince Harry’s memoir with Express, expressing concerns about how the content of those projects could be harmful.
With few details known, it’s hard to say whether Harry and Meghan will release any more royal family dirty laundry. “Of course, there’s a lot of concern about potential attacks on the monarchy in the Netflix documentary,” Gardiner said. “We don’t know exactly what will be in it, but her track record suggests she won’t hold back from attacking the monarchy despite thriving on her royal title.”
The expert continued: ‘I think the Netflix documentary plus Harry’s book may well make a reconciliation with the Royal Family impossible. Especially if they contain major attacks on the Royal Family and the institution of the British Monarchy.
Gardiner noted, “I think these projects could well be complete bridge burners in terms of the relationship with the Royal Family.”
He added: “There seems to be a lot of recklessness when it comes to both the Netflix documentary and Prince Harry’s next book.”

Royals likely feel ‘tension and nervousness’ over Prince Harry’s memoir
In an October 2022 interview with Us Weekly, royal expert Katie Nicholl was asked if Harry’s book was “a big threat to the royal family”. Nicholl explained how the Royal Family might be ‘concerned’ that Harry might possibly leak more family secrets.
“We have seen how damaging the couple’s allegations can be. We know they are not afraid to speak up. We know Harry wants the opportunity to tell his side of the story,” Nicholl explained. “So yeah, I think there’s a pretty palpable sense of tension and nervousness about this upcoming autobiography.”
She added: “Harry and Meghan are not afraid to speak up. Unfortunately for the Royal Family, when they do speak out it is often with quite damaging repercussions for the Royal Family.

Prince Harry promised an ‘entirely truthful’ account in his memoir
Prince Harry first teased what royal fans can expect in his upcoming memoir, sharing in a statement that his book will be an “entirely truthful” account.
“I write this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become,” he noted. “I’ve worn many hats over the years, literally and figuratively, and I hope that by telling my story – the ups and downs, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that few no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.
Prince Harry added: “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I have learned in my life so far and delighted that people are reading a first-hand account of my life that is accurate and entirely truthful.”
