What’s New on Netflix and Top 10: October 19, 2022

Happy Wednesday and welcome to your first daily recap of what’s new on Netflix so far this week. We’ll recap all the new releases on Netflix so far between October 17-19 and take a look at what’s trending in Netflix’s top 10.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week on Netflix, you have the second season of Barbarians coming Friday, Zoe Saldaña’s new limited series, From Scratch.

On the move front, these are your last days to watch underrated Natalia Dyer comedy Yes, God, Yes, and Hemlock Grove leaves towards the end of the week.

The School for Good and Evil (2022)

One of the big new movies for Halloween is The School for Good and Evil which sees two best friends attend a Hogwarts school where you are trained to be good or bad.

There’s a huge cast and early reviews have been incredibly strong.

We reviewed the film and concluded that it was a must-watch and gave it a PLAY rating. Andrew Morgan called it “a mostly engaging and satisfying entry into a genre that could use some fresh blood.”

The Stranger (2022)

Australian crime thriller The Stranger (not to be confused with the Harlan Coben series of the same name) is also on the Netflix Original movie front today.

Joel Edgerton leads the cast of the film which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Reviews for The Stranger have been very strong so far, currently with 94% on RottenTomatoes at the time of publication. Ben Rolph of AwardsWatch called the film “really well done on all fronts”, adding that it had “moody cinematography and a delicate set of performances led by a great director”.
