NBC’s “Dateline: Righteous Obsession” takes us to Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and chronicles how a terrifying August 2, 2018 home invasion killed local antique store owner Milton Sawyer. As Milton was already dead when police arrived on the scene, they found his wife, Angel Sawyer, seriously injured and immediately transferred her to a nearby hospital. As the ensuing investigation uncovered a sinister murder plot and led directly to Angel Sawyer and her lover, Isaac Melcher, authorities met with former youth pastor Louie Kazemier, whose statement helped the case to be concluded quickly. Let’s find out where Louie Kazemier is right now, shall we?
Who is Louie Kazemier?
California native Louie Kzemier mentioned that he moved to Rickreall, Oregon, in 1991 and has been residing there ever since. Back in California, from the time Louie went to high school, he was involved in the church and given the responsibility of a youth pastor. The work earned him quite a few friends, and he was even able to form a group of youth pastors who wanted to operate a camp for teens and children with special needs. Unfortunately, this plan was never realized in California, and soon Louie moved to Rickreall, where he took charge of the Rickreall dairy farm. Louie mentioned that when he first arrived in Oregon, the farm consisted of a single barn, and as co-owner he was expected to grow the business and make a significant profit.
However, even while working on the farm, Louie never gave up on his dream of starting a camp, as he began working with the high school ministry at Rickreall. Soon, Louie became very popular for his work with high school students, and as fate would have it, God apparently introduced him to a quadriplegic man who was looking for properties to start a camp for children with special needs. Realizing that fate was at stake, Louie jumped at the chance and together with the man he created Camp Attitude in Foster, Oregon.
Louie never wanted there to be a barrier between normal high school kids and kids with special needs, and once he pitched the idea to the Camp Attitude board, most members reacted positively to his suggestions. Thus, Camp Attitude was presented as a summer camp for all children and teenagers, regardless of their origin or status. Interestingly, the show mentioned that Louie Kazemier was Isaac Melcher’s former youth pastor, and after Milton Sawyer died on August 2, 2018, Isaac went to Rickreall and confessed his crimes to Louie. Louie immediately contacted local authorities, who helped police capture Isaac Melcher and Angel Sawyer.
Where is Louie Kazemier today?
Currently, Louie resides in Rickreall, Oregon and operates Rickreall Dairy Farm as a co-owner. The farm, which started with a single barn, now houses 1700 cows housed in 8 massive barns and produces 16,000 gallons of milk daily. In addition to managing the dairy farm, Louie assists with the administration of Camp Attitude and runs the camp for eight consecutive weeks each summer. Although the camp welcomes regular high schoolers as well as children with special needs, it offers activities such as hot air balloon rides, kayaking, and swimming, among others. In addition, each child with special needs is paired with a high school student for a week, which helps children develop their responsibility and create a bond of friendship. Readers would also be happy to know that Louie is married to Lori Kazemier and the couple are the proud parents of their son, Nate, and daughter, Stacy. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Louie and his family the best for the years to come.
