Whoopi Goldberg slams Meghan Markle’s complaints about deal or no deal

“The objectification can come from you and how you felt about how these women were portrayed,” Goldberg advised Markle, “and that’s what you need to change, because we’re performers.”

Whoopi Goldberg challenges Meghan Markle’s claims that she got a raw deal.

Oscar-winning actress Goldberg has responded to Markle’s recent statement that she felt “objectified” and “reduced to a bimbo” while acting as a briefcase opening assistant in Season 2 of The Howie Mandel’s NBC game show “Deal or No Deal”.

“On this show, you basically had a suitcase and they wanted to know: is this the deal you want, or is this not the deal you want?” Goldberg said on “View.” “I don’t know if the people sitting there think of you like that. They think, ‘I want the money.’ »

Goldberg continued: “[‘Wheel of Fortune’ host] Vanna White is always into something interesting and beautiful, and that’s what she does. The objectification can come from you and how you felt about the way these women were portrayed, and that’s what you need to change, because we are performers. When you’re an artist, you take the gig. You left, and that was your prerogative. I feel bad, because I don’t think people looked at these girls like that, I think they want money.

Goldberg added, “It’s TV, baby. But, what did you think you were going for? You know that’s what the show was.

The ‘Till’ actress advised Markle not to make “other women feel bad because they’re also trying to make a living.”

Former ‘Deal or No Deal’ model and ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ alum Claudia Jordan took to Instagram to challenge Markle’s claims. “For clarity – yes, getting a MODELING GIG on a game show is not necessarily a matter of intellect BUT each show the executive producers chose 5 models with the most outgoing and fun personalities to place mics on who they knew they would engage with contestants,” Jordan posted on Instagram Stories (via Page Six). “It’s the kind of opportunity that IS what you make of it. If you just show up and don’t commit – then you’ll check out and not get much out of it – but if you show up and seize your moments… Then there’s no limit to what you can do with opportunity.

Jordan noted that “‘Deal or No Deal’ NEVER treated us like bimbos. We had so many opportunities through this show, Fremantle and NBC. This is not an attack on Meghan because Lord knows I have been advocating for this woman in the media for years and always will, but I just didn’t want any misunderstandings about the climate and the environment on the “Deal or No Deal” set. And I’m especially protective of Howie Mandel who was nothing but kind and respectful to ALL 26 of us.”

During Markle’s ‘Archetypes With Meghan’ podcast, the Duchess of Sussex said she would ‘end up leaving with that hole in her stomach knowing that I was so much more than what was objectified on stage’ after a day working on “Deal or no deal.

“I didn’t like feeling pressured to be all appearance and little substance, and that’s what I felt at the time: being reduced to this specific archetype,” Markle said, recalling her name from podcast.

Markle then starred in “Suits” in 2011 before marrying into the royal family in 2018. She confirmed in a recent Variety cover story that Netflix had postponed an upcoming docuseries involving her and her husband, Prince Harry, in because of this year’s sensitive content. Crown season.
